The Farmer's Dog × Allaway
The Client
The Farmer’s Dog is a direct-to-consumer pet food company that set out to do something simple and disruptive: make real, human-grade food for dogs and deliver it fresh to your door. Founded in 2014 in New York City, they challenged a pet food industry built on shelf-stable kibble by offering vet-developed recipes, portioned to each dog’s specific needs, made from the kind of ingredients you’d find in your own kitchen.
The brand grew quickly on a foundation of trust — no mystery ingredients, no filler, no compromise. That same clarity of purpose carries into how they operate as a company. Their team reflects their product: high standards, a genuine care for outcomes, and a culture that takes the work seriously without losing a sense of warmth. It’s a team that shows up for each other, and they wanted retreats that showed up for them.
Allaway has been their retreat partner since 2023 — producing single-day and multi-day team experiences at cool, curated venues across New York, Florida, and Tennessee. Not conference rooms and name badges. Real environments, real programming, real time together.
The Brief
What they
asked for
A company retreat that felt as real as the product they make. No trust falls. No hotel conference rooms. Something people fly across the country for — and rebook before they leave.
Starting with a single HQ camp at The Acres and growing year-over-year into multi-city activations with 350+ attendees, The Farmer’s Dog came to Allaway with one ask: build the retreat that reflects who we actually are. We did it three years in a row — and each year the brief got bigger.
What We Delivered
Every detail handled in-house — from venue sourcing and bunk planning to brand activations, live talent, and on-site production. One call. One team. End to end.
Year One
The first event set the tone for everything that followed. A full-campus takeover at The Acres — 400 private acres, 90 minutes from NYC. The brief: make it feel like the best summer camp the team never had. We delivered a multi-day HQ retreat with farm-to-table dining, outdoor programming, team challenges, and a CEO keynote that employees still talk about.
The Program
Every retreat raises the bar. As The Farmer’s Dog team has grown and the partnership has deepened, so has the ambition of what we produce together. Carnival nights, casino activations, live music, outdoor dining under the stars — each event is designed from scratch around the current team, the current culture, and the current moment. Nothing is templated. Everything is earned.
The Details
The Farmer’s Dog brand isn’t just a logo — it’s a set of values. Fresh ingredients, honest labeling, a genuine care for animals and the people who love them. Every retreat we produce carries that through into the physical environment. Custom signage, branded food stations, on-theme decor, and print collateral that feels considered rather than corporate. The details tell the story when the team isn’t saying a word.
Hospitality
A great retreat isn’t just programmed — it’s fed, poured, and brewed with intention. We bring in a curated roster of vendors who understand what it means to serve a discerning crowd. Bespoke coffee trucks pulling single-origin espresso at 7am. Food trucks with menus designed around the team’s dietary mix. Customized bars built on-site serving branded cocktails with The Farmer’s Dog name on every napkin. The hospitality layer is where guests feel that someone thought about them — because someone did.
