Overview At a glance.

A 140-year-old compound in Windham, New York — the heart of the Great Northern Catskills, two hours north of Manhattan. Seven distinct lodging experiences span Victorian buildings, historic lodges and modern amenities across 110 guest rooms, built for groups that want to stay together.

Designed for company retreats, leadership offsites and brand gatherings — the kind of program where the venue is the experience. The grounds carry workshops in the morning, the Pavilion seats 120 or more for dinner by evening, and the campfires keep going until the conversations naturally end. Year-round, four-season, with the operational backbone of an Allaway property.

Where The Acres is a full-campus playground, Windham Wylder is a heritage retreat — same philosophy, different scale, different rhythm.

The Main Lodge, Windham Wylder

The Spaces Where the day actually happens.

  1. 01 — Stay

    The Accommodation

Seven distinct lodging experiences across 110 guest rooms — Victorian buildings, historic lodges and modern wings, all on one compound. Custom-built craft furnishings, finely appointed bathrooms, and mountain and river views from many of the rooms. Large enough to host the whole company under one roof, intimate enough that no one feels lost in it.

  2. 02 — Eat

    The Dining Room

Large, bright, finely appointed. Continental breakfasts to start the day, charcuterie boards and themed dinners through to late-night menus — delivered by Allaway’s culinary team, with local Catskills vendors woven in for regional specialty. The room that anchors three meals a day and the conversations between them.

  3. 03 — Linger

    The Lounge

Cozy, communal, slow. The space between the workshop and the dinner — open hearth, deep seating, soft library light, the kind of room where conversations keep going long after the agenda ends. The unscheduled hours that make retreats actually work.

  4. 04 — Caffeinate

    Babblers Cafe

Built into the side of the Main Lodge. Some of the best coffee in the Catskills, homemade pies and fresh-baked goods. The first stop for early risers, the gathering point between sessions, and the casual catch-up over a flat white that no schedule has to program.

Programming On the agenda.

Built to your brief. Whether the goal is high-energy team-building, slow-burn restoration or a mix of both, our program team curates a schedule that aligns with how your group actually moves.

Acoustic band, full setup, late-night sets. Sets the stage for the kind of evening people talk about.

  • Trails

    E-Mountain Bikes

Electric-assist mountain bikes that make the Catskill trails accessible to every fitness level. All-terrain and group-paced.

  • Skill

    Axe Throwing

Targets in the woods. Coached technique, then bracketed competition. Satisfying in a way few other activities are.

  • Voice

    Karaoke

Everyone deserves one song of fame. Hosted, ranked, never dies, brings the house down.

  • Restore

    Morning Yoga

Outdoor sessions on the lawn to start the day. Slow tempo, set the tone, find the room before the agenda begins.

Good to Know Questions we always get.

Is the compound exclusive when we book?

Windham Wylder is configured for full-group retreats — 110 guest rooms across seven distinct lodging experiences means your whole team can stay on the property, creating a closed-campus feel for the duration. The Main Lodge, Pavilion, campfires and grounds operate as your space for the booking. Reach out to confirm exclusivity terms specific to your dates.

How many guests can the venue accommodate?

110 guest rooms across seven distinct lodging experiences — Victorian buildings, historic lodges and modern accommodations with custom-built craft furnishings. The Pavilion seats 120 to 144 across twelve eight-foot round tables and reconfigures for keynotes, dinners or live entertainment. Group events of 50 to 110 with everyone on the property work seamlessly.

How far is it from New York City?

About two hours by car from Manhattan, in Windham — the heart of the Great Northern Catskills. Allaway coordinates all transportation through our IATA-accredited team: Sprinter vans for smaller groups, charter bus partners for larger ones. Door-to-door logistics — pickups, arrival schedules, return runs — are handled by us.

When is the venue available?

Year-round — and each season is a different retreat. Spring is for restoration offsites, with the mountain green and the grounds quiet. Summer runs outdoors: trails, lawn sessions, long evenings and the campfire circles. Autumn is foliage season across the Catskills, the most photographed weeks of the year. Winter is ski season in Windham, and the Lounge hearth does the rest. Peak dates fill quickly, so we recommend planning three to six months ahead, especially for foliage (September to October) and the ski months (December to February).

Is catering and bar service handled on site?

Yes. A large, bright dining room and Babblers Cafe on site — some of the best coffee in the Catskills. Our culinary team handles continental breakfasts, appetizers and charcuterie, boxed lunches, themed dinners and late-night menus, with local Catskills vendors integrated for menu specialty. Fully licensed bar service includes premium alcohol, mocktails and zero-proof beer and seltzers, plus a poolside tiki bar and an Airstream bar for outdoor pours.

Do you handle AV and technical production?

Yes. Our IT team coordinates AV needs in advance: flat-screen TVs and projectors, sound systems and speakers, handheld microphones and wireless lapels, dedicated guest WiFi, printing access, plus Apple TV, AirPlay and screening capability across the meeting rooms and event spaces. For live-stream, broadcast or multi-camera setups, we tie in with our Production Campus service.

What’s included in the standard package?

One contract covers lodging across 110 guest rooms, all meals and beverages (breakfast, lunch, themed dinners, snacks and late-night menus), bar service with a full liquor license, AV infrastructure, transportation coordination, custom activities and programming, and our on-property Allaway operations team. Everything that typically appears as a separate line item, handled by one team under one agreement.

Can we bring external vendors or entertainment?

Yes. We work with external entertainers, bands, DJs, speakers, brand-activation partners and specialty vendors regularly, and Allaway handles logistics and on-site coordination. We also offer in-house programming: Olympics-style team challenges, live music, karaoke, a movie under the stars, coffee and chocolate tastings, trivia night, paint and sip, yoga, pickleball, e-biking and custom brand activations. A bespoke event app can be built for guest sign-ups, real-time notifications, interactive maps and event reminders.
